According to the report by Hungary Today, President Áder noted during the discussion on 20 September that 90 percent of waste water is dumped uncleaned into natural waters in Africa, which is an “enormous strain”. The overuse of water resources has been depleting aquifers, which leads to increasing water scarcity in a few decades.
Mr Horváth noted that this May in Ghana, Pureco installed a waste water purifying system developed in-house, which allows the treated water to be released back to the environment without posing infection risks. Local staff operating the system is currently being trained by Hungarian experts.
At the end of the discussion President Áder draw attention to the upcoming Planet Budapest 2021 Sustainability Expo and Summit. The event will take place between November 29 and December 5 and is expected to host more than 160 exhibitors from the Visegrád Group countries.
